The process of PLA fibers production typically begins with the fermentation of sugars to produce lactic acid, followed by condensation or ring-opening polymerization to form PLA. Once the PLA is synthesized, it can be processed into fibers through methods such as melt-spinning or solution-spinning. PLA fibers exhibit excellent strength and thermal stability, making them suitable for a variety of applications, including textiles, non-woven materials, and packaging. Additionally, they offer good dyeability and a soft feel, making them an attractive alternative to traditional petroleum-based fibers in the pursuit of sustainable materials.
