With the rising ease of life, flexible marketing and rapid globalization, the demand for fuels is increasing. Although conventional fossil fuels are the major energy source, they have strong negative impact on the environment. Biomethanol can be produced from various ways. In the early stage, biomethanol was produced dry distillation of wood or lignin and this method has been eliminated. At this stage, typical processes for methanol production from biomass include production of biogas, purification of biogas (including pretreatment and steam reformer), synthesis and purification of methanol (figure 1).
