Biobased polybutylene succinate (PBS) is a type of biodegradable polyester derived from renewable resources. It is produced through the polymerization of succinic acid and 1,4-butanediol, both of which can be sourced from biological feedstocks such as sugarcane, corn, or other biomass. Unlike conventional petroleum-based plastics, biobased PBS is designed to break down naturally into harmless byproducts in industrial composting environments. This material offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics while maintaining excellent mechanical properties and processing versatility. Due to these features, biobased PBS has gained significant attention as a sustainable material for various industries, including packaging, agriculture, and consumer goods.
